our MISSION

Harper’s Warrior Fund was created to help support Kansas City youth while in foster care. Our nonprofit organization will help provide services and resources not covered by private insurance or medicaid. When a child enters the foster care system, there are many needs that must be met in order to ensure the child’s overall welfare. These needs vary and can range from medical, educational, therapeutic, or even extracurricular.

Many people think that when a child comes into state custody, everything is provided. Unfortunately, medicaid only covers a portion of these needs. Even a court order does not guarantee that each child will be given services and resources. Numerous children qualify for  an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan if they require special learning or behavioral accommodations while at school. Even if the child’s individual needs are outlined in these educational plans, there is no guarantee each individual need can be met by the school district.

Harper’s Warrior Fund helps each child be as successful as possible by fulfilling his or her individual needs while navigating the foster care system.

our VISION

Harper’s Warrior Fund will help ensure that our Kansas City youth will have the necessary services in place and the necessary resources provided in order to have their individual needs met during their time in foster care. The lack of insurance coverage and the lack of funding despite a court order will no longer be a barrier to their success while navigating a challenging time in their lives.
